With only A-Level result and IELTS, it is not easy to apply for Ivy Leagues or other top universities in US. Many universities there pay great attention to SAT and TOEFL. What should we do?
Firstly we are supposed to have an understanding about American education system. There is no national entrance exam to tertiary education institution in US. American universities make their own decision and the standards of enrollment among universities differ and set different requirement for grades. But one point confirmed is that most universities including Harvard and Yale recognize A-Level and the details of recognition can be found in www.cie.org. Furthermore, the application to American universities also requires students to have comprehensive ability including English, social practice, ability of organization and special talent in learning.
The United States own the widest range of entrance exams to universities and colleges in the world. There are around 50 kinds exam alike this. SAT is one of these exams and we can’t say that with the certificate of A-Level it is hard for students to apply for universities in USA. A-Level is a kind of academic curriculum and American universities require students to be excellent both in academic studies and English ability like SAT. Students with A-Level certificate can be waived some credits and from the perspective of depth, A-Level is difficult than SAT. Students learning A-Level will find that SAT is easier than A-Level. In addition to this, some 40 universities in the top don’t require students to submit SAT for students from China.
